Season Two, Week Four

As if to make up for the week before, we had three high scoring wins this week, but unfortunately the carnage was unusually low. The only kill stat of the week went to the Crimson Claw rookie Crabby Shell, who eliminated Headless Harry, the Zomba wraith who had already brought the ball home once that game, adding to his double score, and most valuable player performance the week before. The Zomba were came out ahead in the 3 to 2 game in spite of the loss, but that's one intangible presence that is sure to be missed by his Zomba teammates.

Two of the week's games featured a four to one gap in the scores, with the Bitzers clawing and biting their way to a bloody victory over the Dark Wind, and the Lizardale Leapers outdistancing the Unicorns in a dazzling display of long-legged speed, and accurate passing. Rumors that the Dark Wind offensive co-ordinator was absent because his specialized services had been needed at home might explain the Dark Elves' dismal perfomance in the destruction department, with only one injury to their credit in the entire game.

The highest scoring game of the week was the Retribution and Raiders game. These two heavy hitters positively littered the playing field with bodies as they struggled back and forth, but even the legendary dwarvish toughness couldn't prevent the Seraph from coming out on top, yet again. They scored four times to the Raider's three, even with three top players (and a rookie lineman) carted away to the locker-room trailing feathers.

Most Valuable Player of Week Four:
Humility Hummingbird of the Retribution
Most Dangerous Player of Week Four:
Crabby Shell of the Crimson Claws

Season Two, Week Three

Mostly close games this week, although the Biterz shut out the Claws. The Biterz seemed almost dissapointed at this notable victory, however, as the tough shells of the Crusties proved impervious to the their trip and smash tactics -- the Biterz added only one injury to their team stats this week, a sad comedown from the seven injuries and two kills they racked up against the Seraph the week before.

The slugfest between the Undead and the Dwarves resulted in three deaths, in the undertaker needing three new cofins, but one only needed to be half sized. The Raiders aren't that used to loosing players, but they stuck to their game plan, and marched their way to victory. Another three to two game was the Leapers versus Dark Wind match up. The two fast moving teams alternated rushes, but although the Dark Wind came slightly behind in the scoring, they had a clear advantage in the damage department. Four of the slann were carried off into the locker-room and rumor has it that two of them will not be coming back soon, if they make it back at all.

The Retribution and the Unicorns certainly put on the prettiest game of the season, but teams favoring bright colors and sparkling trims on their armor. The glamour-fest was fairly low scoring, however, as the defeated but dashing Unicorns held the second ranked Retribution back enough to prevent them from scoring more than twice. The only kill of the game went to Retribution lineman Forgiveness Falcon, however. One Seraph who seems to be failing to live up to his name.

Most Valuable Player of Week Three:
Lily Lipitysplit of the Lizardale Leapers, Headless Harry of The Zomba, and Shale of the Rockhill Raiders
Most Dangerous Player of Week Three:
Whispal of the Dark Wind

Season Two, Week Two

Fans began week two by watching the traditional favorites, the Rockhill Raiders, pound the Moondale Unicorns into pulp while charging to a two four victory. Even more exciting was the Biterz against the Retribution game. Last years champions hung on to their three to two lead with grim determination although the goblins practically cleared the pitch -- killing two seraph and injuring another seven.

Next came the biggest surprise of the week. The Crimson Claws showed up for their game with the Hell Hammer and discovered that their were no chaos dwarves at the Stadium. Instead a dark elf calling himself Flyswatter, presented a signed statement that the Hell Hammer players had been recalled to the Underdelve Armies, and that a dark elf team, the Dark Wind, would be taking their place. In spite of the lack of warning, the Crusties held the Dark Wind to a tie.

In the final game of the week the Lizardale Leapers jumped into the lead by slaying the Zomba, scoring twice with no reply. The Zomba did manage to rack up three injuries, but this wasn't enough to prevent them from earning the reputation of being the worst team in the league. Coach Fearabi Zither doesn't seem terribly concerned by his teams' failure to perform, perhaps he has some Necromantic Hocus Pocus up his sleeve?

Most Dangerous Player of Week Two:
Gobbler of the Biterz

Best Defensive Team: Lizardale Leapers
Least Damaged Team: The Crimson Claws
Deadliest Team: The Biterz

Season Two, Week One

The first week of the second season started with a rather lackluster game between newcomers Hell Hammer and Moonglade Unicorns, but things soon heated up with the Zomba and the Biterz putting on a display of blood and gore sufficient to sate even the most bloodthirsty fans.

The Raiders didn't show quite so well against the Leapers, but they certainly achieved the flashiest kill of the season when their new bait, Skippy, toppled the treeman Swamproot. Bringing home the Raider's only score, and with an additional injury to his credit, Skippy scores both most valuable player, and most dangerous player this week.

The week ended with the surprise game of the week. The newcomer Crimson Claws, in a knock-em-down drag-em-out battle with the Retribution, managed to hold the former champions to a mere tie. The first time in the history of the Retribution that they have not won. These previously overlooked crustaceous critters just might be worth keeping an eyesalk on in the future.

Most Valuable Player of Week One:
Skippy of the Rockhill Raiders
Most Dangerous Player of Week One:
Skippy of the Rockhill Raiders

Best Defensive Team: Moonglade Unicorns
Least Damaged Team: Moonglade Unicorns & Hell Hammer

Season Two, Pre-Season

The XOBB is not dead after all it seems. We have a a confirmed sighting of Otlex the Omniscient inflating pig bladders, and the word is out that Xenia Bloodbowl fans will once again have something to cheer for.

The team line up has changed considerably, however. It is believed that previous favorites, The Retribution, and the Rockhill Raiders will be returning, but probably every other team in the 8 team roster is going to be new. And not just new teams, but new races as well. The teams to be tossed out on the pitch this Season may include Undead, Crusties, Slans and Weres.

Fans are warned that the team rosters have yet to be made up, and nothing has yet been finalized. But the game is on, and the outlook is bloody.

Season One, Week Three

In the third week we had mostly low scoring games with three shut outs, but the Retribution put on their usual show versus the Dell Griffons. Fans went wild as each team swept down the field in turn, smashing players as they ran. But once again the Retribution came out on top, holding on to their narrow lead in scoring, and racking up their second kill stat of the season, even though the Griffons left them groaning with 6 players carted off to the locker-room dragging their feathers, including team favorite Humility Hummingbird, who, according to rumors, will not appear on the pitch again until next season.

In a Dark Elf versus Dark Elf match up the Berelym overpowered the Black Wasps, out scoring them, out injuring them, and burying the Wasp Witch Elf Toadstool. "It's all in the training," Coach Mickle Gorchev of the Berelym told us. "You got to feed them right, and work them right, until the thirst for blood overcomes all sense of self-preservation." Coach Blade of the Wasps was unavailable for comment.

The Sky Knights turned in a mostly lack-luster performance against the Raiders, but they did score one victory against the top killers in the league by wiping out their star Bait. This loss seemed to take the starch out of the Raiders, who only managed to injure three players, a distinct come-down from the 4 kills of the week before.

The Sea Knights continue to show improvement, bringing home the ball, and the win against the Rat-guy Scurriers, and doing a fair amount of damage in the meantime, thus pulling themselves out of their last place position. We look forward to seeing if the trend will continue in the weeks to come.

XOBB Most Dangerous Player of Week Three:
Glorin of Berelym

XOBB Best Defensive Team: Ratguy Scurriers & Sky Knights

Season One, Week Two

A bloody and exciting second week started with a knock-em-down-and-jump-on-em battle between top rated Retribution and the underdog Black Wasps. Eager to live up to the previous dark elf injury stats versus the formidable seraph, the Black Wasps rolled up their sleeves and pulled out their knuckledusters, and outdid the Berelym's previous record while trampling 5 seraph into the dirt, and killing one. But the Retribution lived up to their name, exactly equalling the Wasps in carnage, and leading a scoring frenzy 5 - 2.

Next the dwarves of the Rockhill Raiders murdered the Dell Griffons, out scoring them two to one in the first half, and killing so many players that the Dell Griffons fled the stadium at half time. Commissioner Otlex has requested that we print a reminder that the League does not offer ticket refunds for any reason whatsoever: "you pays your money and you takes your chances."

The Sky Knights and the Scurriers fought a back and forth battle of attrition, in the longest and dreariest game of the week. Neither offense was able to get things rolling, and the game ended at a scoreless tie, with the defensive lines the obvious winners. Rumors have it that the Sea Knights stole the Sky Knights offensive co-ordinator, out from under the nose of Coach Guardian Flame, if so a replacement needs to be found immediately. The editors urge both teams to pull up their socks in the following weeks.

Finally in a exciting battle bettween Berelym and the Sea Knights the Berelym managed to edge in a close win, but failed to repeat their impressive injury stats, taking three injuries and a kill instead. The Sea Knights have greatly improved their lackluster performance of week one, and we look forward eagerly to seeing how they perform against the Scurriers next week.

Season One, Week One

The XOBB's first season booted up, as the Xenia area saw League action for the first time in the memory of League Publicist Sammy the Sot. "Naw, there ain't been no Blood Bowl league here before," he told our reporter, "leastwise if there was I don't remember it none. I think."

The locale has been fighting for organized BloodBowl play for some time. "You get an informal match together, see, and some dumb warrior bitch shows up and steals the show. And when you compare notes with the other coach, she weren't on niether team," Coach Sh'Yell explained. "We needed a better way of keeping score."

The first week saw four exciting match ups. First the Ratguy Scurriers battled it out with the dwarves of the Rockhill Raiders. "There were scaven being carted off the field left and right," one observer exclaimed. Despite being badly knocked up, the Scurriers' superior speed won the day, as their scratch and grab tatics allowed them to shut out the slower moving Raiders.

Next the dark elves of the Black Wasps went head to head with the human Sky Knights, racking up the weeks' only kill, but failing to bring home the ball.

The Sea Knights didn't fair so well as their fellow humans, however, as the Elves of the Dell Griffons frollicked their way into the end zone three times with no reply, claiming their place as the highest scoring team in the league.

The final confrontation matched Berelym's dark elves against the seraph of Retribution. Retribution held on to their early lead by a narrow margin, but suffered the greatest number of injuries of any team so far. "Seraph's break easily," Berelym's coach informed us after the game. "My players are still trying to get the feathers out from the cracks in their brass knuckles."
